“Learning is finding out what you already know.
Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they
know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, teachers.” - Richard Bach
All
students can learn. I believe that it is a matter of how much a teacher is
willing to do for his/her students. I was inspired to become a educator after
working as a temporary teacher for two months.
My
role as a teacher is to teach students the required expectations for their
grades and the skills to become a better citizen not only in his/her community
but in the world. Besides, I also should present material in a systematic and
organized way and should promote the idea that one can used clearly defined
criteria in making judgments about science. Others, I will provide stimulating
activities for learning and be prepared well organized lesson. My teaching
method is based on inquiry approach, question-answer method, experimentation and
self-expressive activities.
One excellent way to engage
students in the classroom and create real word connections is to utilize technology and
maintain one’s current knowledge as a teacher. Today, students are constantly enveloped in technology. Using technology in the
classroom spawns student interest and connects lessons to their everyday lives.
Incorporating technology in the classroom is a must, not only to engage
students but to prepare them for the rapidly growing and changing world.
Technology should be used in every way possible in the classrooms. In order to
maintain this goal, it is important to continue one’s education as a teacher. I
need to stay informed and current in their knowledge of technology as they do
their content area.
I
also want students to appreciate and identify of the substances of which matter
is composed and to leave my class with an increased sense of stewardship for
the earth. I have several objectives as an educator:
- Students
should understand the relevance of chemistry to their lives. I emphasize
relevance by discussing current events pertinent to chemistry, by asking
students to share their knowledge of the subject, and by discussing how I have
found the knowledge useful.
- Students
should be actively engaged in the learning process. I have taken coursework in
cooperative and active learning techniques during my degree and I incorporate
these techniques into my teaching. For example, I have planned to do some unique
chemistry’s experiments outside the laboratory and make it as an outdoor
activities to show them how amazing chemistry it is.
